Kim's Travels
Well after an interesting nights sleep (wrapped up like mummy, afraid of getting malaria and just the general sleeping-in-a-shack-ness) we were woken up for our brekkie. We chilled out a bit longer and then got going again. We trekked for quite a while (3 hours) up some very steep hills (!) and stopped off again at another stunning waterfall. We saw some little kids on our way and asked our guide where they were going/what they were doing etc.. and he said they were on their way back to their camp from washing at the waterfall and guess how old they were... 3, 4 & 5!! I couldnt believe it!! They walked up dodgy hills and slopes for about 30 minutes on their own to wash in the waterfall. They were really cute too. Anyway, after trekking, trekking and yet more trekking we stopped for lunch (which was ... surprise surprise RICE. AGAIN!) and then set off for out bamboo rafting which was AWESOME! We sat on 9 bits of bamboo all stuck together and 'rafted' down the river for an hour - IT WAS SO COOL. I've never been to chilled out. Some of it was a bit crazy (like when we went down a waterfall!) and also when the locals started splashing us but it was so much fun! After that we took the truck back to the city (Chang Mai) and right now we're just waiting for our 12 hour over night bus back to Bangkok. YAY. It sounds cliche but I'm so so glad I did the trek, it was brillirant to see people so distant from anything I have ever seen before. Everything they had or did was completely different to anything in my life and it was fascinating to see and be part of. Now, I just wanna see more!
