We left Airlie today and caught the Oz Bus with our loony driver Annie. Unfortunatly a load of still-drunk-from-the-footie-chavs were also on our bus so it was just slightly raucous to say the least. We got to Townsville and had a picnic and then caught the ferry to Maggie (AKA Magnetic Island). When we got there we went on a bush walk with crazy Annie and saw wild Koalas and old-war-fort-thingies. She was also speaking to us about Aboriginees and the treatment of them etc... Did you know they were only recognised as human beings in 1969? Awful huh? Its a really fascinating topic. Anyway, we went back to the hostel after and Oh. My. God. It is gorgeous. I love it. Adore it even. It is so unspoilt and our hostel is heaven on earth. The rooms are mini bungalows RIGHT on the beach, with lots of hammocks, palm trees, possums, a happening bar, a pool etc... IT'S BLISS! We went to the bar for Quiz Night and a few Stawberry Daqueries later we were ready for action! The quiz was hilarious - the second round was a physical challenge eg. - fetch 3 tops - grab someone with a scar etc... etc... Naomi did us proud and we ended up coming second!!
