Hi Everyone.
Hope all's well at home? It's pretty hot out here!
Friday we got into Phuket quite late so we went out for something to eat. The hostel was ok. The dorm rooms looked really nice but we ended up in a grotty double. It was so hot and we spotted a couple of rats running around - nice!!
Saturday morning we had an early boat to Koh Phi Phi Island. The on board entertainment was back to back episodes of Mr. Bean of all things! Tom just sat and cracked up for an hour and a half - sad!! Before docking at Phi Phi Don, the ferry toured around Koh Phi Phi Leh and Maya Bay, a smaller uninhabited island which was beautiful. Maya Bay was a lovely beach where the film 'The Beach' was filmed. When we arrived we hadn't booked anywhere to stay but we got chatting to a Canadian lad who had been there before and he recommended a place called PP Dream which was ideally priced, clean and friendly, completely the opposite to everything we had been told about all the budget accommodation on th island. We chilled out on the beach for the afternoon and it was soo hot, the sea was like a bath, you couldn't even cool down in it! That evening we ate at a small restaurant and the food was really nice. We also booked up to go diving the next morning.
Yesterday morning was a really early start (for us). We were on the boat for &.30 and off to the dive sites. Our dive master was brilliant and it was definately the best dive we have done so far. The water was so clear, we had 20m visibility and we saw loads - hawksbill turtles, a reef octopus, a leopard shark, a cuttlefish, a sea snake and loads of tropical fish that we had never seen before. It was awesome!! Lunch was also included on the boat so we mored at Maya Bay, "The Beach," whilst we ate. Back on dry land in the afternoon, we were both pretty knackard from the diving and it was boling so we didn't get up to much. We booked our boat and bus tickets to Koh Tao before heading to a nice restaurant for dinner.
We checked out this morning and had a late breakfast. We had a last walk through the small town and Kim bought a nice sarong which was a bargain! We are getting a boat back to the mainland later, then we're catching a bus to the east coast to board our night ferry over to Koh Tao. The ferry could be interessting!!
We'll let you know how it goes.
Speak to you soon.
