Hi guys
On Tuesday morning we had a half day countryside tour of the Cameron Highlands. This included a visit to a strawberry farm, honey bee farm and a tea plantation. We booked the tour Monday evening when we arrived at the guesthouse we were staying in. The guesthouse was called Fathers Guesthouse and it was really nice, we got a private double room for 3 quid each a night - bargin! The food was great there too, it was all home cooked food and monday evening we enjoyed an awesome chicken and vegetable curry with rice.
Tuesday afternoon we spent most of our time arranging travel plans for Thailand as in Bangkok a state of emergancy had been declared. In the evening we went into town and ate at a chinese restaurant as the kitchen at our guesthouse was closed due to a gas leak (although no one seemed too worried about it!)
Wednesday we got up early and finalised our trip plans for Thailand. We ended up booking a flight into Thailand as flying in gave us a 30 day visa whereas crossing via a land boarder, as we originally intended, would only give us 15 days. We also decided not to go to the Perhentian Islands due to forcasted bad weather, instead we will spend more time on the Thai Islands. We chilled out on Wednesday afternoon by walking into the town to take some photos. We also booked our bus to Penang at the bus station, before heading back and watching a film.
Yesterday we got up early and had a nice cooked breakfast before leaving at 7:30 to get our bus to the ferry terminal at Butterworth to go to Penang. We arrived at lunch time and the humidity was really intense especially after being up in the highlands for a few days. We went for a walk around Georgetown for a bit but it was just too hot to walk about so we got an ice cream and headed back to our cool guesthouse. In the evening we were directed to a great open air, local food court called Red Garden. We had so much to choose from and it was less than a third of the price of some of the tourist places we passed on the way! Even though we are in Malaysia we decided to go for thai and enjoyed a great green curry and fried rice - yum!
This morning we got up at 9:00 and sat out on the patio and had breakfast. Now we are just hanging around waiting for a taxi to the airport as we are flying to Phuket later.
Catch you all later.
Love us x x
