Hi Guys
On Wednesday we got up early and got the bus to Brisbane. It was a relief to leave the hostel in Surfers Paradise, it was ridiculously hot!! It was just a couple of hours to get there and our hostel was pretty close to the bus station, which was good but it was boiling hot and the walk with our backpacks on felt like forever! When we checked in we were suprisd to see Lucy, a girl we met in Fiji, behind the desk of reception, we didn't even know she worked there! We had some breakfast and spent the rest of the day in the computer room becuase it was soo hot outside. We ended up being in a dorm room with some lads from Lime Regis who said that they always went out in Exeter and went to Timepiece, what a samll world!
We decided to get out on Thursday and braved the boiling conditions to do some sight seeing. There wasn't much to see, but it was still quite a nice city, just very hot. We chatted to the guys in our room in the evening and had an earlyish night.
Friday was more of the same we headed up to the top of the original city clock tower whcih was pretty cool. In the afternoon we went and lazed at streets beach. Streets beach is a man made lagoon with an artificial beach around the outside with bar b q areas. We made use of the bar b q areas that evening when we chipped in with the other guys in our room, and bought some meat and bread and had an "ozzy" bar b q. Good night with a few drinks.
Yesterday we left the hostel to meet Heather (the girl we met in South America and again in Melbourne). She had flown in for the weekend and booked us al in to a pretty plush two bed apartment. It was like the Ritz compard to our crappy hostels! haha! We spent the afternoon in the jacuzzi before dinner and a few more drinks. We then headed out for a pretty messy night, getting to bed about 6ish!
We woke up this morning feeling pretty rough. We were suposed to check out at 11 but didn't check out until gone 11:30 - opps! We walked to the bus station, said bye to Heather and set off for Mooloolaba (they have some stupid names for towns over here!)
Hope all is okay at home.
Speak to you soon
love us x
