Hi Everyone
We've had a good few days in Buenos Aires.
After we updated the blog on Wednesday we went out for a steak, Argentina is famous for it's Beef and you can see why, it was amazing! After the steak we went to a Malonga bar where we watched local people dance the tango to a tango orchestra, it was really good - very cultural!
Thursday we went to the Recolecta in the morning, it was a really nice day the weather was great which made a change from the day before. We walked around the cemetry, nothing like the ones in England, massive marble tombs. We saw Evita's family tomb, there were gorgeous flowers all over it. The Recolecta itself is a former monastry which has now been transformed into classy shops and bars- abit out of our price range but we still went in for a look! In the afternoon we went to La Boca which is an area of Buenos Aires where you can find the Boca Juniors Stadium, although we were advised not to go and see it because of the crazy supporters that live around it. Instead we walked around the market stalls and watched Tango in the street. All of the houses were painted crazy colours and the streets were small and cobbled. That night we got back and got a pizza and some drinks to have at the hotel before moving onto a club at 1am. We went to club 69 - O my god what a place! There were transvestites dancing with each other on stage and break dancers on the floor, a really wierd combination!
On Friday we didn't do much, we got up late and had a wonder around. In the evening we met our new leader Martine (a man) who is now going to be with us until La Paz in Bolivia. Two people from our group left us as they had finished their tour and we had two new people join. We all went out together to get to know the new members.
Today we got up and went for a walk to the museum of modern art, but when we got there we found out it was closed for refurbishment so we wondered on down to the Port which was very pleasent but a very expensive area (where the Hilton Hotel is). We went for a big dinner (not at the port!) Going back to the hotel in a bit as we are leaving to get our 22 hour night bus to Bariloche, which is up in the mountains.
Hope all is well at home.
Speak to you soon.
Love us x x
