Hey Everyone
We have spent the last four days in Uruguay, but not got loads to report.
Saturday we spent the day in Salto after spending 13 hours on the night bus, weather was really good though. We caught a local bus to the public park that had natural thermal pools, some of the pools were so hot. It was really nice but felt like we were in a big bath with random people - yuk! Spent most of the day sun bathing and in the evening we went for a nice meal, food is cheap in Uruguay.
We moved on to Montivideo on Sunday morning, weather getting worse! Kim went for a wonder down to the market and around the old town with some of the group and Tom went to a local Uruguan football match to see Penerol it was an atmosphere like nothing at home, with fireworks and flares everywhere! Tom was still not feeling good, so he saw a doctor who gave him a jab to give him a boost. Again we went for a nice meal although this time it was abit more pricey but food was nice.
On Monday Kim went with the girls to a salon to get a manicure (its been two weeks ladies!) and what bargin - full hand massage, file and paint for 1 pound 50!! In the afternoon Tom went for a city tour, while kim went shopping. That night we went to a much cheaper place where there were more locals, food was excellent though.
Tuesday we arrived in Colonia at lunchtime and we were then told that we had to choose between a ferry at 4:30 the following morning or 8:30 the following night to take us to Buenos Aires, or we could pay an extra 20 dollars to leave at 9:30 - not impressed considering transport was suposed to be included, who really wants to travel at 4:30 in the morning??! So we only had an afternoon in Colonia and spent the day wondering around the town, which was really pretty. Went for another cheap meal last night - food not so good this time but edible! Not bad for 3 quid!
Due to the fact we are budget travellers we braved the 4:30 ferry this morning actually not that bad, slept for three hours with two seats each and we got free breakfast. We arrived this morning and checked straight into our room had a couple hours kip before the others who paid the 20 dollars arrived. They didnt get a free breakfast and think we were fresher than they were! haha!
We have had a bit of a wonder around today and saw some sights but its rainning. Buenos Aires is really busy - reminded Kim of New York, people everywhere!
Quiet few days really. We finish with this tour leader tomorrow and meet our new tour leader Friday, although most of our group are continuing onto Chile together. Hopefully going to try an Argentinian Steak tonight as they are renowned for their beef. Possibly see some local Tango in a few bars afterwards.
We havent got too much planned for tomorrow, maybe see more of the city, depending on the weather.
Hope everyone is good at home.
Speak to you soon.
Love us x x
