After leaving Dar Es Salaam we had two long driving days with very early starts which meant getting up at around 5.30am - aaarrgghh!
The highlights of these two days were:
1) The stunning Baobab Bush Campsite - set in the middle of absolute nowhere and littered with massive Baobab trees right on the bank of a hippo infested river with monkeys throwing seeds and nuts at our heads. We felt like we were on the set of an old Tarzan movie!
2) Kim getting soaked by a hosepipe that magically sprung a leak just as she was walking past
3) A visit to Ismiller Stone Age site where hundreds of stone age tools have been exacavated out of an old valley and where the river has eroded the sandstone rocks into stunning pillars and spires
4) A proper dinner with tablecloths and napkins served in a converted mud hut at a farmhouse campsite near the border with Malawi - after eating in semi darkness round the campfire for weeks this was a real treat! Especially as we follows it with hot choc mixed with Amarula and chocolate brownies in the cosy thatched bar....
