From the Ngorongoro Crater we started our long drive to Dar-Es-Salaam on the coast of Tanzania. Breaking our trip halfway at Tembo Camp at the foot of the Usambara Mountains amidst lush tropical scenery was a welcome relief although slightly marred by Kims first accident of the trip - falling out of the expedition truck...
Catalogue of injuries:
- large bruise to knee
-large bruise to inner thigh
- large bruise to buttock
- large bruise to lower back
- nasty cut to heel
- very bruised pride
Anyway - all is well and my injuries have since been superceded by Tammy breaking her foot frolicking in the sea!
On arrival at Dar Es Sallam we had our first taste of glorious white beaches and palm trees - camping virtually on the beach and swimming in the Indian Ocean - fantastic!!! Bumped into Alicia & Evan on the Acacia Africa trip ( the guys we met on the plane and keep bumping into along the way) - they had done the trip from Ngorongoro in one day - 15 hours driving - and were catching Zanzibar ferry at 7am... Poor suckers - we felt quite smug at our laid back itinerary!!!!
