Kuala Lumpar we loved. Bruce and Alfredo we also loved and not only because they let us stay with them in their beautiful apartment. The first day we arrived Alfredo was our tour guide up the KL tour showing us the sights of the tallest city I had ever seen, the view was incredible. We then went to the KL tours, made famous by the film entrapment. They are somthing else. Unfortuantely we werent able to go to the top of those towers but from the lagoon at the base so still got a real appreciation of just how high they were.
That evening we had our 1st big night out. We got as dressed up as possible for 2 backpackers, now with no jewellery, and headed to the Panglobal building. This tower had a nightclub at the top called Luna bar and thats where we knew we were heading. However, never of us had realised just how amazing this place was going to be. It was possible the swankiest place I had ever seen and felt like a clip from a James Bond movie. The bar had a swimming pool in the middle, which was open to the air, with a covered bar at the end and then covered seats around the outside. The sides were just glass and from every angle you could see the night skyline across KL, simply stunning. Hattie and I instantly forgot we had been up since 3am and just felt really chilled and literally on top of the world enjoying the company of our new friends. Fantastic. We left there in the early hours and headed to a street restuarant to enjoy some dim sum before getting home at about 4am. A truly amazing evening.
The next day we headed to Batu Caves truly enormous caves, which requires you to climb 312 steps before you even reach the entrance and then we went for a walk in Frim, a section of Malaysian rainforest. Understandably we then collapsed in front of a movie for the evening. We then had one more day in KL were Hattie and I headed unaided around the city, visiting China Town, central market Merdeka Park and Little India. Our final evening was spent eating curry, with our fingers, out of banana leaf in an amazing street restuarant. Without question the best curry ever made even better by eating with your fingers.
The next day we flew to Singapore. This was again a whistle stop 2 day visit. We managed to cram in the musuem, little India, China town, Arab street, the Merlion statue, the finance district and for good measure some temples and cathedrals. However, hands down winner of top activity in Singapore was going to the Raffles Hotel Long bar and drinking our first ever Singapore Sling whilst eating monkey nuts. Great fun and wellworth the entire days budget. Then came Oz
