Hey guys,
Yes we are alive and well in Oz and travelling around in a 1987 toyota liteace, which we are praying will get us to Sydney by Christmas. We left Perth on the 29th October, having spent 5 awesome days with the lovely Windsors, and have spent 10 days driving 4900km. We headed north up the West Coast, stopping in Kalbarri, Coral Bay and Karijini. We then started heading East through Broome, Fitzroy crossing and are now in Katherine before going to Lichfield National Park for a few days and then up to Darwin. Yes thats right we are doing this at the same speed as Asia.
We then hope to fit in Ayers rock before heading over to the East coast and down to Sydney. Piece of cake. Please keep everything crossed that "The Beast," our affectionate name for our van makes it.
So far it has been stunning and more than we hoped it would be. It is currently 40 degrees and is meant to be getting hotter although the rain is also coming. Time for rain dances again please (to stop it that is). We are making lots of friends along the way and enemies of ants and flys that we do actually hate.
We cook every night on our camp stove, camp recipes greatfully received, as it currently feels like we have reverted back to student days and enforced vegatarianism due to budget contraints. Big boo.
So far we have seen manta rays, reef sharks, kangaroos, parrots, snakes, bobtails lizards and tons more roadkill. We drive sometimes for easily 2 hours before seeing another vehicle and sometimes all day with no one going the same direction as us. Which isn't worrying us at all......honest. We are being super safe though and only driving in day light and swapping driver regularly ie every 200kms.
Oh and we saw our first Christmas tree in a shop 2 days ago, very very weird.
Right we better get back to the sunshine and our camp pool is calling.
Love to you all, we are missing you tons and think of you often.
Love Hats and Kim xx
