Hey eveyone!!
Well since our last post we stayed in Frankfurt for a few nights before flying to Singapore then changing to get here Bangkok.
We flew out on monday at 11.55pm and arrived at singapore at 5.30pm on tue, then got a flight 11.10pm same night arriving here at 11.30pm..Neither of us had much sleep in that time as the first flight had loads of good films to watch at our leisure and over 250 albums to listen to.Each seat had a tv on he back so we got stuck in.
When we got off the plane our first plan was to get a taxi to the hostel we booked.Seemed simple enough. So we qued for one showed the man the address of the hostel and he looked a bit puzzeled, but when we asked him if he knew where it was he nodded and said yeah. We were driving for bout 15min out of the city when i thought this was taken a lil longer than explained on the directions from the hostel but trusted the driver knew where to go.Another 15-20min later the driver took us down some street crawling along looking at the address and the buildings scratching his head.We had written the number down for the hostel but when the driver rang it , it didnt work. The place we were in really didnt look like a place to get out and wonder, especialy with our bags and it now being 12.40am.So we asked the driver to take us back to Bangkok airport. The driver could not speak a word of english. So with airoplane actions with our arms and repeating Bangkok airport about 8 times he nodded and turned round. We were driving for about 30mins and i said to kie it seemed we were not going the right way,he agreed but as it was dark we werent to sure.So we asked the driver if he knew that we wanted to go to Bangkok airport? He still looked confused, but after more exchange of actions he said yea airport and continued to drive on. We did this another 3 times on our way.The driver was going over 110 mph speeding along nearly driving into backs of lorries.Im sure he proberly didnt have a licence. We finaly arrived in PATTYA 91miles later!!!!
Not good, we then got the driver to pull over and did the whole plane action pointing to the stamps in our passports and anything else that would help.Eventually the driver started saying ahhh Bangkok airport? We were like yea.He had for some reason thought we wanted to Pattya airport.By now this driver was fuming shouting in thia.He then phoned his boss to explain what was happening and getting even more angry. He passed the phone to us to speak to him but the signal kept cutting out and the boss couldnt understand us either. The driver now driving at 160kmph all over the road then phoned a by linguel number and passed the phone back to me. I explained the situation and the person at the other end they translated it to the driver, confirming that Bangkok was the place to go.All the way back we thought the driver was going to a- drop us off on the side of the motorway b- get killed in a crash with a lorry c- not get back at all. 4 hrs later and 30 pounds poorer we arrived back at the airport.Relived tired and hungry we got some food and braved another taxi. The time was now 5.30am and we were heading in a toatally different direction to the first cab.10 min later we arrived at our hostel. Was such a nice feeling.we checked in and slept right up till 3.30pm! Defenitly needed the sleep.
We got up showered had some breakie and headed off into town. The hostel here is about 6 stops away by skytrain from the centre and costs bout 50p.Bargin! Its nice cause the centre is really busy and we are in a residential area but not to far away from things. We stumbled upon a brand new shopping complex,so new that some of the shops were still not open.It was massive, u could fit the whole high street in it easy. This is the biggest of many, but tme ran out quick so we will explore further tomorrow.Hope all is good back home and not to cold. (",) x xx speak soon love kie and han ... p.s thak you all again for our msges and ,mails always apreciated. x x x
