Well, finally Uganda is in the news for something that isn't related to its ragingly homophobic legislation! Alas, it does mean that violence seems to be quite prominent in major towns - I've been told that this has hit the ' beep, beep beeeeep!' bit of the BBC News at 6 o'clock, which is quite exciting, but understandably quite worrying.
I probably can't do any better than a BBC journalist, as the only light I can shed ont he matter is from what I've read int he 'Daily Onion', and the 'Sunday Pepper', which, as many of you will see when I bring copies home, certainly aren't appropriate for the internet.
I guess doubling rice costs, a bar of soap now reaching 3,500/ and Matatu rides rising by almost 50p, has been the main cause of some of the biggest riots. It's the violent reaction given by the Ugandan government which spurs them on, and the political nature of the peaceful ' walk to work' protests, which in a country with inflation at 14%, will set pulses racing, (and it doesn't help that recipes for molotovs are being printed in local newspapers, along with a 2 page description of how to create pepper spray.)
I'll be back with a far mroe cheerful update soon, and am sure that the unrest will start to wind down with the harvest that is just about starting ...

Raina Well as you say it is interesting that Uganda is in news but not for good reasons. Have you seen any evidence of anything? And by the way how do you make a molotov cocktail
Dad More interestingly and more useful, how do you make Pepper Spray?
