Woo hoo finally got 2 minutes and a tiny bit of energy to sit and update you all on our adventures so far!!
Left home at 3pm and both started to make our way to Heathrow airport for our flight at 9.25pm. The lovely Allan picked me up at 3pm and we headed for Edinburgh Airport for my flight down to Heathrow at 5.20!! Or so I thought, me having the luck I have the flight was delayed. By the time I was on the plane, after sitting around for what felt like hours, I felt like I should atleast be half way to Malaysia by now!!! I was also dying to see the lovely Danni!! I arrived at Terminal 5 and thought it would be so easy to get to Terminal 4 where Danni was and where we were checking in for our first part of the flight, to Mumbai. It took me a further 45 minutes to get there!!!!! Poor Danni had been hanging around for over an hour and like me was dying for her first Vino to get the hols off with a bang!!
I finally made it, we checked in and headed straight to departures for some food and a Vino! My friend Cheree was there with her man, they were also heading to Bangkok. So much for thinking we could have a quick catch up. Little did we know how big the terminal was!! So me and Dan hit the first bar we found and started on the Vino. We enjoyed our first so much that even though our flight was boarding we ordered a second. The flight was soon saying final call and eventually we left our drinks and headed for the departure gates, only to find a huge queue! Not amused, we even considered heading back for the rest!!!
We ended up with seats which didnt recline, the joys!! Needless to say the lovely people in front of us felt the need to put their seats back from the start!!! We were sat with a lovely girl who was traveling on her own. Dannielle later told her her life story!! (I know for those of you who know me this might sound very strange that it wasnt me!!!). After what seemed to last forever we arrived in Mumbai airport and were well chuffed with the leather loungers!! We had a well deserved lie down, although still didnt get any sleep!! We seen a stall who did foot massage and eventually decided to treat ourselves. The guy was clearly that desperate for business that he pretended what time it was and if we hadnt checked we would have missed our onward flight to Bangkok!!!
Our next flight to Bangkok was 4 hours and lets just say Bombay belly had kicked in already for moi!! During this flight we were contemplating just giving the flight to Kuala Lumpur a miss and staying over in Bangkok but we found the energy to keep going (god knows from where). After an hours wait in Bangkok we flew to Kuala Lumpur which took another 2 hours. By the time we arrived we were well and truely zombied, jumped straight in a taxi and were mortified to hear it was an hours drive to the hotel! Wed have loved to have chilled for the hour but the fact our driver was falling asleep at the wheel was a bit of a concern so we stayed awake until we arrived at the hotel then went straight to our beds!
Although we set our alarm for brekkie we slept right through the alarm and woke up at 1.30pm still looking and feeling like death warmed up. After getting ready we headed into the city equipped with a map and went out to explore. We got a few trains to various places and explored Little India and seen the famous Peronas Twin Towers, we ended up in Chinatown where we did a bit of bartering at the night market, Danni got herself a fabby LV purse and bag.
We struggled to find anywhere to eat for lunch or dinner (going to be like supermodels when we get home) and ended up with McD's and Subway! We were determined to eat somewhere authentic for dinner and FINALLY found a place who served decent looking noodles, no fork and knife included so after lots of practice we are now pro's with the chop sticks. After dinner we headed back to the hotel for a well needed sleep.
Monday we had originally planned to go to the Elephant Sanctuary but we were too late to book it so we set the alarm to head to Genting Highlands which was set 6000metres above sea level and was really popular with tourists to Kuala Lumpur. We struggled to get up again (jetlag was hitting us big time). We got to the bus station to find that all the seats were sold out until 1pm so for the next few hours we decided there was nothing better to do that yep head back to bed!!! We even struggled to get up at 12.30 again for our bus at 1. Anyway after an hours journey up we had a fab day. There was an indoor and outdoor theme park and lots of shops and restaurants (they looked so appetising that we ended up with a McD's for lunch again). We had constantly been saying that we were in need of a massage so couldnt resist the shop that sold massage equipment!! Yeh you guessed it we suddenly became Kerry and Danni beauty salon owners who were looking to invest in some new equipment, therefore needed to try it out!!! We were in our element!! After the hours journey back we got ready for another early night and a good sleep so we would hopefully feel back to normal in the morning!!
That just didnt happen, YET AGAIN we struggled to get up. But since we were being picked up at 10 to go to the Elephant Sanctuary we had no choice but to drag ourselves out of bed to get ready. We had our own personal driver, Morgan who was lovely. The drive was an hour and a half and we enjoyed some fab sights on the way up north to Kuala Gandah. The day consisted of feeding, riding and bathing with the elephants. It was a great experience and we were loving the fact it was the first day the sun decided to come out. Every opportunity we had we had the straps down and the shorts rolled up trying to catch some rays!! Were home now and although we would love another early night were going to take the advise of Morgan and head to what he says is a popular, touristy area here in the city. Tomorrow we head to Bali for a weeks relaxation and some pics of me looking normal!!
Sorry but no pics, we were going to upload them as we both know how desperate you are to see what weve been up to but the computers here dont do USB's!! But will get them uploaded soon. Missing you all lots, NOT!! Kerry & Danni xxxx
Finally had a chance to update this thing!!! Well we were soooo glad that we took Morgans advise and headed into the city!! What a night, it totally made our time in Kuala Lumpur. Cant believe we would have missed it and thought that all we had experienced so far was the centre of Kuala Lumpar! We caught the monorail and after 15 minutes or so we arrived to an enormous city with lots of lights and a great atmosphere. I initially thought of London. Here we found lots of restaurants the list of different options on offer was endless. We had a wander around, had a look around the shops and had a bite to eat. Danni evern experienced her first alcoholic drink since we had arrived, I was boring and had water (I know this may sound rather strange to those who know me!)
We witnessed some prostitutes trying to pick up some business it was hilarious. They were around 40 years old and were giving any walking male the look. They tried their luck with two Chineses men who were absolutely mortified, gave us a giggle! Here we caught the eye of a 60 something, balding, fat bloke who clearly seemed to think I was looking for business and continued to follow me around, the joys!!
We headed back to the hotel and got ready for heading to Bali the following day. The waslk to get the bus was a struggle as it was roasting hot and mega sticky. On route to the airport the rain started pouring down but was still boiling outside.
Once we arrived we noticed our flight wasnt on the departures board?? We only went to the wrong airport. We jumped in a taxi and 15 minutes later were at the right hotel and queued up to check in.
While in the departure lounge we seen just what is a necessity for men heading to Bangkok for their hols!! You can imagine, they had wedding rings on as well! YUK!
Goodbye Malaysia, next stop Bali :-)
