Hello all,
This is my final entry from Bolivia & I'm suffering with a stinking cold (thought you only got them from the english weather!).
Tourist-wise theres not that many attractions to do in this capital city. We ventured out yesterday afternoon & wandered the surrounding streets & market stalls. Bought a few souveniors (again) & realised that our hostel is located in the heart of the artisian district (no wonder the shopping was good, huh). Wandered along the witches market, was approached with various potions and parts of dead animals that would apparantly make my life oh so much better (lol)! I was keen to get one of the old women to read my tarrot cards - but the locals are reluctant to do this for gringos. After walking past several times looking like a hopeful candidate, I gave up (much to helen's relief). We just read in our Brazil guidebook that I may have better luck in Rio (fingers crossed).
Got up early this morning so I could catch the post office & send the fore-mentioned shopping home. Went there yesterday & the woman was fine, but today the cheeky b***** wanted a tip just to make sure she posted my parcel to the right country - heard everything now, even the post office are on the fiddle here lol!
Even though our stay in Bolivia has been a flying one, I really like it. Ok, initially it looked like some war zone offa the news, but on close inspection its def not the prettiest place we've been to, but the people seem very geniune (apart from the postal workers!) & can't do enough for us. Poverty is rife but the people just get on with it. I would have loved to spend more time here but Brazil is calling & we're in desperate need of some normal weather.
Love to everyone, Kez xxx
