Another moving day - this time north to Rincon de la Vieja National Park.
We said goodbye to the lovely garden in Bijagua and Marya, the owner. The weather here has been consistently wet and windy and we have never had a clear view of either volcanoes.
The drive to Rincon de la Vieja was surprisingly uneventful. We shopped in Liberia and then headed towars the national park. The road became quickly rough with rocks and potholes. Costa Rica is very free of litter so we were surprised to see so much dumped along the road. We came to a bend where some men were loading dustbin bags onto their truck and then saw some people sifting through some other bin bags. This was the municipal tip and it was sad to see people scavenging.
The road remained slow and bumpy and we saw some huge lizards on the way who had a knack of whizzing off as soon as you got out a camera. We did catch one though.
We found where we are staying easily enough. It was an outdoor adventure park and we were the only folk there. Jason came to meet us and said we could use the facilities. It was low season in Costa Rica. He pointed out a jacuzzzi which we could use and offered use of the horses and zipline.
The weather in this province is different from the rest of Costa Rica - Guanacaste region is hot, dry and windy - lacking the humidity of the other places we have been.
The place we are staying is lovely, clean and well equipped (apart from no oven!) but spacious. There's four double bedrooms and a living area you coud play 5-a-side football in. On two of the windows are insect nests and lizards ran across the fly screens at night catching moths.
The winds rattled the doors and windows, and when it rained, it poured, but only for a few minutes. there was even a rainbow.
Out of our chosen bedroom window, we got a quick glimpse of Vn Miravalle when the cloud ever so briefly lifted. It was hot and we kind of just collapsed and relaxed, ate an early dinner of pasta before an early bed.
