We've had a lovely few days in Nha Trang, I've managed to have some time to chill and read my book on the beach and Lauren has unfortunately got sunburnt (despite the factor 50 paste!). Monday for dinner, we joined Hanna, Muir and V who work for the dorm reception in having Vietnamese street pancakes dipped in chilli sauce. They taught me how to use chopsticks and we spoke a lot about their lifestyle here, it was really nice and they are very warm/caring people who have continually helped us book travel and offer advice as well as want to chat on a personal level about life. Hana talked about how she wants to move to the UK and find a husband like her cousin has in London and the difference between how south Vietnam look for a husband in the UK and the north tend to look for a husband in the USA to migrate.
Lauren and I then went out and met a few other travellers (Isle of man, Netherlands & Scotland) playing games of cards, dominoes and pool. Tuesday morning we chose to go to a spa that our Vietnamese friends in the hostel recommended (Thap Ba Spa) which was a 15 minute taxi away. It was $210,000 VD each for the taxi there and back and entry into the spa which is just under 5 GBP each so you can't complain.
When we got to the spa we had no idea where we were supposed to be going or what doing, when we finally got directed we ended up very closely sat with another Vietnamese couple in a small mud bath. It was an intimate event which Lauren and were laughing a lot about the situation at the time, especially when they insisted on getting us in their selfies they were taking with their stick.
We went back to where we were supposed to be getting picked up from and turned out we were 40 minutes early so we sat in deck chairs on the street with a Vietnamese lady as she watched me brush my hair, then inspected my hair brush before randomly using it herself, brought us out snacks, admired my toe nail polish and was just generally really sweet to us and interested (although all of this was done via a Charades type affair as she couldn't speak English). Our level of skill with charades at this point in the trip is getting better and better as it's often a way to communicate like when I tried to buy a pack of cards the other night and reenacted playing a card game to the guy behind the counter which Lauren was watching from a distance said the effort I put in was great. I did on the other hand learn from the hair brush lady how to say Hello in Chinese (NiHao) and Vietnamese (Sin Chiao).
We went for an Indian at a curry house recommended by the girls last night before getting picked up by the night bus at 6.30pm (12 hour trip to Hoi An).
The night bus wasn't as bad as the last one apart from some Vietnamese man shouting down his phone for 3 hours when we first got on it. Having now arrvied safely at our hostel in Hoi An (The Sunflower) we are a bit tired but ready to explore the city. This hostel has a swimming pool which is good to chill out around and it seems very sociable here although we have been warned the area isn't as safe as where we've been previously so will need to be careful.
