Monday 1st February
I've been a bit lazy with my blog recently so I'm going to keep the next few days more brief than usual. It's been a slight chore keeping up with it especially when socialising more and no wifi! We checked into our new hostel Base uptown to begin our package that Jamie had helped us sort and went and saw the botanic gardens properly. It was a really hot day again but nice to stroll around and enjoy them, we had some lunch there and appreciated the green surroundings.
In the afternoon we returned to our hostel and checked into the room. We chatted to our roomies who included Brianna and Laura from Canada, a girl called Kim from the Netherlands, Drew from the USA and Carl who I think could have been Dutch? Carl had just done a sky dive that morning so told us all about it and showed us the video which looked really scary. We got showered and the girls went down for dinner and got our free drink with the guys joining later on. A couple of other girls joined us too but I can't remember their names and we all ended up going to another hostel bar and having a few drinks. We didn't get to bed too late and it was a nice random Monday evening.
Tuesday 2nd February
Tuesday morning we had breakfast with Bri and Laura and then went to endure our first experience of getting the Greyhound - a coach which everyone uses to travel around Oz to get to Noosa. It was drizzling when arrived in Noosa so we just walked around trying to find a restaurant with air con in this little town which was difficult. We ended up walking up a huge hill and then down to have lunch on the beach front in a sports bar.
We didn't fancy the hill climb back so went to an information point where we got full info overload by a nice kind older man that wanted to tell us all about Captain Cook once he realised we were from England. I'd have appreciated his knowledge and interest in the history if we weren't stood in the boiling heat, Lisa was trying not to laugh but afterwards we thanked him and went on our way to find the right bus. Despite the guy being very helpful we still managed to get lost on bus back, we got on the right number just going in the opposite direction and had to get off and come back on ourselves. At the hostel it was a 16 bed dorm with only one fan, so it was like having flashbacks of the hot uncomfortableness of the campervan! Anyway we met a nice girl called Jess from Belgium and went to an Irish bar across the road for dinner sharing our travelling experiences followed by getting an early night. Thankfully everyone else in the dorm had the same idea and lights were out at 11pm.
