We were woken up by Keung being very loud stomping around the treehouse (probably intentionally to try and get us up), and having been told the day before breakfast was at 8am, it was 7.30am and breakfast had already been put out. We slowly all emerged from our dens and waited until everyone was around the table to dig in. Unfortunately it had gone cold, and the rice was horrendous to try and dig out being so sticky it was like a solid clump. Keung seemed to have expected us to be ready to go earlrier (I don't know why when we were told we'd be eating later) but said he'd come back at 9am. We all got sorted and were thankful to not have to carry around all our stuff as we had had to the day before coming into the jungle.
The plan was to spend the morning trekking to other tree house's, (number 3 then to the highest one number 5 which was also the furthest away) and then back to ours for lunch and onto number 1 and 2 in the afternoon. It was really humid and I'm not going to lie, completely exhausting all the walking we had to do. The views were amazing and the zip lining was so much fun, and we had Jay being informative on occasions about the jungle and he even made us all each a staff to help us get by as the other Lauren had hurt her leg and needed the extra help but then the rest of us were moaning, so we all got one. Tribe Beasty Hearts, which we'd named ourselves at this point were all very supportive and bubbly singing songs and generally setting a good mood to be coping with all the climbing and walking through the jungle - I don't think I could have done it without their team spirit!
Throughout our hike, there was much enthusiasm about Lord of the rings, and poor Becky had a harness which was so slow it kept meaning she'd have to pull herself most of the way into the line. We bought some whiskey which the local village had made so we could have a drink of it that night, and jay even made us each a bamboo shot glass which we all loved. Unfortunately after lunch jay felt ill, so we had Keung look after us for the duration of our time there. By the end of the day, we'd got back to our treehouse about 5pm, and many of the tribe had been bitten all over their legs by some sort of bug (which now looking back we don't think was mosquitos as they didn't give the same symptoms). I'd enjoyed the day but was glad to be back as my left knee which id hurt back in August doing a kart wheel on the hill at boomtown had become weak again so it was incredibly painful to be walking downhill. The only thing I was a bit disappointed about was that I thought we would have had some more free time or that there'd be somewhere to sit in the sun and eat lunch or something for half an hour but the whole 3 days were under the shaded canopy of the jungle. We had no electricity let alone wifi and began getting showered and sorted to entertain one another for the evening again.
More playing card games of 'ware wolf' where we changed the narrating to our own settings (I did Aladdin, and some of the others were the lion king, Lord of the rings, Harry Potter, the Simpsons and Bens farm!) In learning from the night before's mistake, we drank the whiskey straight (I was sucking on apple slices immediately after to get rid of the taste...) and my high point of the night was us all toasting and singing to the corrs 'so young' song followed by Saffi catching a firefly in her hands which we all watched float around the table in the dark when she released it - the moment felt really magical. After much laughter and more stories (including still being horrified by bens story told of a night he spent in India the night before - not something I can repeat really on here but if you ever remember then ask me in person), we went to sleep about 10.30pm and even keung stayed in the treehouse - we think he was worried we'd try and zip line drunk but that didn't happen. Not on cautious Kirsty's watch anyway...!
