Entry into Keelung was through a set of breakwaters and past several container loading areas before we reached our berth. Keelung is a pretty little port and the ship docked very close to a busy road and commercial area.
Our tour took us into Taipei and the first stop was at the Palace Museum. The crowd here was horrendous and I would have preferred to have given it as miss.
Next, we looked through Confucius Temple and Pao An Temple where there was some sort of cultural celebration going on. This culminated in a street parade and firecrackers exploding on the street which created a bit of a stir with the tourists.
Lunch was at a large hotel called the Grand Hotel which was modelled after a traditional Chinese building.
After lunch we visited the Martyr''s shrine and witnessed a solemn Changing of the Guard ceremony.
Next stop was a visit to the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall which features a large seated statue of Chiang, reminiscent of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC.
Finally, we stopped for a quick photo of the Taipei 101 building before heading back to the ship and departing Keelung soon after.

Pam Edwards Hi Ken - I don't suppose you have met Ken and Jackie Hill from N.Z. on board? They are friends of mine and I just found out they are on that ship doing the same trip as you.
