This story starts aboard Emirates flight EK435, an A380-800 rego A6-EET. We finally departed an hour late at 10pm for our first trip on a 380. Our seats are in the very back row on the left hand side and seem quite roomy. There's a crew cabin area to our right where the middle seats should be, so we can't see across the cabin but it does feel quite cosy.

Our first meal was served just before midnight and was really quite good. Even Chelsea enjoyed hers which was a first for an airline meal.

We seem to be heading more to the north than I expected and crossed the coast near the SE corner of the Gulf of Carpenteria about 12:15am
