BOOZE CRUISE AND DINNER AT THE ROYAL LIVINGSTONE
Our final outing in Livingstone was a 'booze cruise' on the Zambezi River. It is a pleasurable way to take in the river, see the hippos and exotic birds nesting on the river banks not forgetting drinking as many sundowners as can be drunk in three hours! Whilst tucking in to our umpteenth gin and tonic we were fortunate enough to meet up with a great fun crowd of Texans on a business trip. Michelle runs the successful International Speakers Bureau in Dallas, which manages and organises inspirational speakers for worldwide events. The company represents hundreds of speakers, including Nelson Mandela and Desmund Tutu. Michelle and her colleagues were enjoying some R&R in Livingstone before heading back to work in the states. We chatted throughout the cruise and were kindly invited to The Royal Livingstone Hotel to join them for cocktails and a meal.
It turned out to be the most fascinating evening. Going to The Royal Livingstone for a cocktail to celebrate Camilla's 30th was one thing but being invited for a meal there was altogether a different matter. It would have blown our budget to smithereens, so we readily accepted such a kind offer. The only fly in the ointment was that after seven months on the road we would have to find something to wear, remember our table manners and how to drink fine wines...funnily enough we slipped back into it pretty easily. The company, the food, the wine and conversation was excellent that night and we felt extremely lucky to have met such a lovely and kind group of people. Thank you Michelle, for your kind generosity and bon amie. It was a fantastic night to remember.
