A bit of a mad driving day again today. We are under a bit of pressure to get to Sydney by Thursday before handing back our van AND we need to hit summer bay also (and more than likely stay a night there before getting up to watch them filming Thursday morning!).
We said goodbye to our little friend Claire and hit the road - stopping off in Coffs Harbour for lunch and a pic with the big banana!! We drove through Coffs for a look but didn't stop off to do any other touristy stuff. Well, we were going to visit the pet porpoise pool which had dolphin shows etc but we missed the start of the shows to decided to give it a miss.
We arrived 400km later at Port Macquarie, a really picturesque seaside village with lots of shopping and restaurants. The town really seemed to be buzzing. We walked into the information centre to try book into hang gliding but nobody did it here. And the search goes on!!!
We booked into a nice site about 3km back towards where we arrived called Mellaluca and headed into town for some dinner.
We saw a flyer in site reception for a place called Mikes fish place. We found it and got lucky!! Tuesday nights were buy one fish and chips for $9 and get another for a dollar! We had a Fish called hoki in batter. Absolutely delicious and it 100% deserved it's spot in the lonely planet!
We came back to site about 7pm so Carol could up to date on her Home and Away before we hit Palm beach tomorrow!! It's another long driving day...about 5 hours again bit getting closer to Sydney each time! At the moment we are about 500km from there! Really looking forward to it - we booked harbour bridge climb today, 200 dollars each. Hopefully views and effort will be worth it!
