Kells travels
So after my nights stay at Banka Banka we were to head off for Katherine gorge. Enroute we stopped off at the Daly waters pub which used to be an airfield for Quantas & is the oldest pub within the Northern territory. This is a really cool pub with loads of character & strange stuff going on, have to say the peeps that live in the outback are very odd & how they live in these places is beyond me... I would go insane living in these places!! Today was soooooo hot again & it's winter at the mo.... so next stop was the Mataranka thermal pools & rainbow springs, it was so nice here & the water in the main pool was approx 30 degrees PERFECT. Also you could swim in another pool if you wanted with freshwater crocs, that apparently won't attack you.... I was going to go in until I saw the water was cloudy & you wasn't able to see the crocs clear enough!! I feel come this far without being ate so may aswell try my hardest to get home whole ha ha. Tonight we camped at Katherine Gorge & I'm so pleased to say the nights are also getting warmer which makes it easier to camp as don't spend the whole night shivering ha ha. So after a lovely nights sleep I was up early to go down to the Gorge where I had booked to kayak around the gorge for 4hrs, seriously must be mad.... So started kayaking with my friend Grace & we were having a lovely time, the gorge was so nice & the sun was shining. Everynow & then some was shouting there were crocs on the banks, this is true as they are in these waters & there are signs everywhere advising where you can pull over or not as their also breeding at the mo. So all going well until we reached some rapids... here is when we had to get out of the kayak & climb through the rocks & rapids... this was awful & I must have smashed my knees about 50+ times, so now I'm still smothered in bruises!! Anyhows after the nightmare of getting through the rapids the kayaking cont to be lovely & I'm sad to say I saw no crocs.. never mind seen plenty elsewhere.
