Today we had a look around Port Lincoln and then we drove about 50km north to Coffin Bay. This morning it was very cool weather, Kellie even put jeans and a jumper on, but the day turned out to be really beautiful. Coffin Bay is a beautiful little holiday town with water sport, like boating, fishing and canoeing being the daily activities. After a leisurely morning we left windy Ceduna at about 10am and travelled down the Eyre Peninsula. We stopped at Streaky Bay for morning tea, walked down the jetty and watched a family fishing competition, not much being caught but everyone was having a great time! After yesterday's extreme heat we decided to set the alarm for 4am this morning for an early start. We were awake before the alarm went off and packed up and on the road by 4.15am. As it turned out, when we crossed the border only 18km down the road, we had to put our clocks forward two and a half hours, so it was a good thing we left early! IT IS HOT, HOT, HOT! We have stopped off at Eucla after driving in 50 degree heat! There have been heaps of broken down cars towing caravans and trailers along the way. Some were already on tray trucks. I stopped to help two lots of travellers, but unfortunately one car (A Range Rover) was terminal with engine oil and water running out from everywhere! It's nearly 9pm so we decided to pull up for the night at the Balladonia Roadhouse. Its been very hot weather today over 40 degrees and plenty of flies! This morning we found a baby Galah on the road, it must have fallen out of the nest and was very weak. Unfortunately it didn't make it and died on the way! I'm very sad as he was doing well and had a lot of character. We plan to make Eucla or the Border tomorrow.
