Monday 20th was the popular Whitsundays tourist trap which of course is a 'must do' if you are here! So Stefan, Brodie and I decided to give it a go...
Our 3 days eating, sleeping and chilling on the boat also involved sailing, snorkelling, diving (including a night dive which was pretty scary as you literally can see nothing!), chilling on the beaches, eating great food (including ants bums!, Beef stew, risotto, pasta salads, potato salads, steak and mash, sausage, ham buns, bacon and eggs to breakfast...YUMMY I could go on J!) and maybe drinking a little too much (especially Stefan!) We also had a bit of bad body painting going on during the final night and of course it was the English lads who started it!
On the trip I met a girl called Jen who I spent most of my time with. She was a lovely English girl from Leeds and she was just one of those girls who is really easy to talk to. We were really lucky with the group as everyone was really chilled and we were lucky with the weather too - it didn't rain once! The sun was out and there was just enough wind to sail along nicely (about 6 knotts, not very fast but relaxing). We also saw an incredible sunset and visited Whitehaven Beach which has the finest sand in Australia!
The 3 days on the boat were just like the family flotilla holidays we used to go on which were incredible! But I'm not sure it is better than a flotilla holiday...I guess it's amazing and great fun if you are not so spoilt and fortunate enough to go on a flotilla holiday but specifically the "Whitsundays" is no different to the Greek islands. I'm not denying it was a great experience, but for me, the flotilla holidays were more impressive!
We arrived back on Wednesday afternoon. I stupidly decided to go for a run with Stefan. After hardly any sleep, too much sun and alcohol, not enough water it was not a good idea. For some reason my feet are also a bad state and it actually hurts to walk or run (I have no idea what I've done but I hope the pain goes away soon L ) So I literally died on the 6k run...and Stefan ended up just pooring a bucket of water on me as I collapsed on the grass for about half an hour :( bad times. We went to the Whitsundays after party down the road and took advantage of our free pizza and cheap drinks. I was in bed by midnight, I was so tired but it was a good night and rather entertaining as both Lisa and Brodie were on the pull. Lisa succeeded but not so sure Brodie did...
Today is Thursday...I went for a 6k run (this time I left Stefan run ahead of me as he is so much fitter than I so I was holding him back big time) We did our laundry and set off to Townsville. Lisa's new lad Tim joined us on the trip in his own van so I ended up driving Lisas car so she could keep Timo company in his car. We had a simple cous cous dinner and I have spent an hour updating my blog.
Glad I'm up to date -my bed has been calling me all day so it's about time I get some sleep...I'm starting to look 10 years older if I'm not careful. Maybe I'll manage to get some wifi too so I can actually catch up with everyone back home. So sorry I have not been in contact for a while now. Australia really is not good at wifi. They either don't have wifi or charge you a lot, it's ridiculous!
Anyway, night and hopefully speak soon xxx
