Dumb and Dumber
Unlike the postcard we didnt actually see much sun but did get to see rainforest territory and idyllic islands. Dumb and dumber didn't actually realise that the resort we booked was a surf resort (even though it cleary states this on the website). This basically means that 90% of the people that head there are surfers who are only interested in catching waves not sun. As we were in the heart of a mini rainforest in a cove on the coral coast the weather was rainy to say the least (bar the day we headed out with the surfers to Frigates Pass).
We headed on an excursion on our 3rd day to a tradidional Fiji village which was amazing - we had to drink the traditional Kava as a mark of respect to the Fijians (who are the most welcoming and friendly people we have ever met). Kava can only be described as dirty rainwater with the taste of sweaty socks - not good - but an experience anway. Again the weather was poor and the motor canoe ride up the fijian river for 2 hours was again not the best but an experience all the same. The highlight was out climb the waterfalls which although was a bit scary at times was amazing - we were the only girls that made it to the top waterfall.
Our last day we headed out with the surfers to Frigates Pass which is a popular surfing spot where we snorkelled and sunbathed. Kel was busy looking out for the tropical fish whereas Gill couldn't keep her eyes off the surfers dudes - whats she like!!??
Even though the weather let us down the Fijian people made up for it big style.
