Today was our last full island day and we had the perfect weather. For breakfast I had bacon and an omelette and slice of pineapple. It was good except the bacon was very chewy! We sat in the outside dining area watching American trash while our food digested.
We rented beach chairs and an umbrella and covered ourselves with suncream before we went snorkelling. It was no where near as good as Mantaray but was nice to swim about. All day we could see people coming and going on jet ski's and we were jealous so very jealous! We enquired about beachcombers prices and it was $100 fijian dollars for 15 mins! If we weren't so worried about money maybe or 100 for half an hour maybe! We stuck to our loungers!
Lunch was at 1pm and there was a happy hour before that so we got a frozen margarita delivered to our beach spot. Lunch was served buffet style and was a selection of salads and currys and rice. There was even entertainment with grass skirt dancers and a fire dance and a mimed rendition of This is Crazy.
After a half an hour digest we went for a snorkel and open water swim. You could see a few more fish and huge coral but the water got darker.
We sat in the bar for the second happy hour of the day before dinner. Fried spiced taro was being passed around which was nice. Dinner was again served buffet style with similar dishes go lunch. Had a lovely coconut fish curry. We shared the ice cream and peach desert.
After dinner activities were fun and the winner got drinks at the bar so Neil fully got involved. It was sarong night and the sarong wearers had to stand at the front and whoever got the loudest cheer won. I did my best to scream pretty loud and was later complimented on it however it was not good enough to beat some of the crowds. Neil also performed his talent and played the drums and was excellent but was up against another drummer, a dancing oriental man called Mr Phillip and a small child dancer. The child won of course, a pointless win as the boy can't legally drink. Bitter!
We had another dance show from the staff and then it was our turn to learn and do the Bula Dance and it was amazing!
Bula dance
Left arm up twice
Right arm up twice
Roll arms in sky times two
Roll arms low times two
Touch Shoulder shoulder
Hip hip
Bula thrust
Bula thrust
And turn
#repeat
