Day 2 - France from a Distance
The beds in the staterooms are incredibly comfortable and dark and we all got a great night’s sleep. Liam loved that his bed came out of the ceiling to make the top bunk and Ainsley loved having a huge bed all to herself. We ordered an assortment of muffins from room service the night before in case the kids woke up early. Of course they arrived and woke us up before any kids came to our side or the room. I ran over to the Royal Palace dining room for an omelette and some smoked salmon for breakfast.
It was a bit of a rainy morning and having no plans for the port city, we opted to stay on the boat and explore. Liam and Odin begged to go to the kids club so we dropped them off there and took the littles to the Cabana restaurant buffet to get Whitaker some breakfast. Ainsley and I toured Goofy’s sports area and saw the mini golf course, fooseball tables, basketball court and more.
We picked up the boys (who had a great time!) and started the Mickey Detective Agency scavenger hunt. The boys and Keely worked together to go across the ship to solve the mystery. The clues were hidden inside paintings that came to life when they waved their detective badge in front of it. The plan was to do a few clues before going swimming but they had such a great time that they found all 10+ clues.
It stopped raining and the water slide opened so it was down to the room to change into swimsuits and enjoy the pools on a cloudy, upper 60s day. The boys and I tried out AquaDuck (the water-coaster that goes across the top of the entire ship) for the first time. They aren’t big enough to go alone so I got to ride with each of them multiple times! Keely and the littles joined us so I took them to the splash pad and the boys each went on the AquaDuck again with Keely. We watched Aladdin from the pools until it was time to get ready for dinner. So much fun!
Tonight was formal night and the kids looked amazing. Ainsley wore her Repunzel dress and the big boys each had a sport coat. A dashing crew! We made our way to the atrium for the Captain’s Reception and took some great family pictures. Tonight’s dinner was at Enchanted Garden. When we walked in, the entire wait staff clapped for Princess Ainsley’s entrance. Whit was exhausted and fell asleep on the table before Keely and my main course came so we happily ate in peace. The kids enjoyed their Mac & Cheese again while Keely and I opted for seafood. Delicious!
The party was still going in the Atrium with a violinist who rocked to various Top 40 hits - that is until Liam realized he had eaten too much and got a little sick as we rushed to the bathroom. Too many sweets! After a change of clothes and a shower, he felt perfectly fine again and begged to go to tonight’s juggler entertainment.
Another fun show in the big theater and then we headed up to the top deck for the Shimmering Seas Light the Sky fireworks show. We had great seats in front for Mickey, Minnie and Goofy’s dance party and fireworks. It was another late night but the kids loved it!
