J: After a quick flight to Bangkok and then an overnight bus we got to Chiang Rai. We found a lovely hostel that had just as much foliage inside as well as out, which had loads of kittens running around the place so Sam was happy to stay and it was really cheap so I was happy too. We rented a moped and went to the Black Temple just outside the town. This was a very dark temple and not just because it was black, it seamed to worship death. It had dead animal bones and skins all over the place. Weird seats and altars made from animal bones and even live snakes in cages around the grounds. Not sure who comes to worship at this place but we didn't see any monks and it felt like if you broke any rules you would have a curse placed on you.
S: We visited the white temple at the other end of town. The same artist made both the temples and clock tower in the town. The white temple felt very calm compared to the black temple. It had statues of Aliens & Predator around the grounds, and in the prayer room it had pictures of superman, minions and Star Wars these are to name but a few. It's very beautiful especially when the sun shone on the temple. You could buy a trinket to put on the ever-growing tree of them. I decided to let James write it, as I always do..... Hmm, maybe there's a reason why I do!!
J: We later found a popular street vendor selling fried chicken and sticky rice. The chicken was a bit like KFC only better and was very tasty. We decided a beer was needed for this so went to the 7-11 and bought a couple of bargain bottles..... Turned out it was rice wine not beer! I couldn't drink it so got a beer and Sam drank both bottles of it!
S: As we are coming to the end of our time in Asia, we both needed to get some new clothes for Australia. We visited the night market, and I brought some new shorts and trousers. Finally I can shop lol.
The next day we visited a place called Boomerang, it's a rock climbing, zip lining Adventure Park. We had a whale of a time. As we waited for the guy, a family got out of a van. My first words were 'great, now I can't fail on anything as there are children here' lol. I climbed all the walls and even climbed one twice as James reached the top and I didn't. I wasn't going to be beaten.
J: As Sam wanted to climb twice to match me the guy let me do the belay for her ropes. It was fun doing it and I dangled Sam for a bit on the way down lol. It was my first time rock climbing and I now love it!
After that we went to the "swing" it was a massive swing that went out from the rock face and was rather smooth and relaxing. The zip line was next and we had the lines parallel to each other zipping down to the ground. It was a brilliant day.
Later we walked about and went to a Wat in the town, we also found a little waffle place and I had a massive sweet-fix with cookies, honey and ice cream!
