S: so we finally arrive in Pucon at midnight after a very long two days. A random Spanish lady at the bus station had a place to stay with a good price, it turned out to be a six person lodge to ourselves. It had a kitchen, and a massive living room with a wood burner - perfect. The next day was James's birthday and he decides that he wants to chill out and for me to cook what ever he chooses. We pop to the local supermarket to buy food and some beer of course. Pucon is very empty of tourists at the moment because Volcano Villarico was on red alert and could erupt at any moment lol. Although it's pretty cool to watch a Volcano smoking, definitely something I never thought I would see in my life. And even though it was James's birthday we weren't allowed to climb the Volcano (secretly I was very pleased lol.)
J: I wasn't as pleased as Sam that we couldn't climb the volcano, I was game to take the chance of the eruption as looking in at the hot lava really would have been a special birthday present!
But we wondered round the beautiful town, it had a Scandinavian / Canadian feeling, lots of little wood cabins by the lake and friendly people. We enjoyed many beers, called to speak to family and played games till late.
The next day we managed to have a lay in bed with an English film which felt like a treat. Then later we headed out to go white water rafting. It was just us and a couple of Chinese girls in the raft and we went down some grade 3 Rapids in stunning scenery, we had a great time and were both gutted when it finished.
S: we walked around the town and to the peninsula looking out over the lake, we sat and had lunch which consisted of opening tins of tuna to go with bread, we've turned into such a classy couple lol.
