S: after a long day bus and crossing the border uneventfully, we arrived in Barloiche at midnight. We found a hostel and put our heads down for a sleep. We had met a couple of British lads; Finley & Elliot, on the bus and we had been talking about how to get down to the Glaciers. We decided to rent a car between the four of us as it was the same price as the bus, the rental agreement was for a week and we could sleep in it to save money. James found a brilliant deal for a Renault Kangoo who we named 'Renee' and we all set off to visit the seven lakes first. The day started off cloudy but it soon got brighter and we enjoyed Lake Nahuel Huapi and Lake Correntoso. We decided on a short cut that apparently was quicker but the road soon became difficult to drive on. We had to stop at one point to check the depth of a puddle, just in case we got stuck lol.
J: we continued along to Lake Traful which was stunning, the road went up to a high view over the lake and it was beautiful even though the mountain caused winds blowing upwards at the edge, it almost felt like we could jump out and hover. We continued down to a little jetty which looked like a perfect photo spot, after ignoring the sign we couldn't read, but we assumed it meant don't enter, when a bloke told us off from a distance, we moved on sharpish.
We got on the road back to Bariloche and had to stop at the hostel as I left my rain poncho in the morning, thankfully it was still there. Then we headed off driving into the sunset along Lake Gutierrez, we stopped and cooked dinner which was basic soup and noodles made with the lake water, it was warm and tasty, plus by this time we where under a full moon & stars on a clear night.
