Get Jealous
I must apologise for the time between blogs at the moment. For some reason I never seem to be able to find the time to sit down and write them. So this one covers a few weeks of our holidays, bringing us up to around the 10th of October. I promise that I'll write about Berlin and The Netherlands soon and then we'll be all up to date.
So,
Once again Duncan and I made the great pilgrimage to Munchen to attend Oktoberfest. The theme was pretty much the same as last year. Beer and Meat. however this year just to be different we added a sprinkling of table top dancing.
Night 1 saw us at the Lowenbrau Ten When the sub zero temperatures in the garden got too much for use we jointed the cue for inside (Ok maybe I'm exaggerating but it was defiantly no warmer than 5 degrees). Once inside mass in hand we were hauled up onto a table to join the thousands of crazy lederhosen wearing Germans dancing to mad 90's music. The night ended when the tent stopped serving beer.
Night 2 and we skipped the long likes at Oktoberfest and headed to the Augusteiner Beer Hall in town for what was to be a nice quiet night of a few beers and good German food. Ha Ha. Fast forward to 3am , we're in some weird industrial park like development full of nightclubs somewhere outside of Munchen and i'm thinking it's a great idea to order MORE B52 shots for Nadia and myself. The story goes that we had got talking to one of the waiters at the Augusteiner and somehow convinced him to take us out clubbing - even though he had to cancel a date! There was more dancing to bad 90's music and much feeling fragile and sorry for ourselves the next morning.
To get over it all we fled to the Czech Republic for some R & R. Prague was beautiful, but Ceske Krumlov was the highlight. A UNESCO World Heritage sit3e this little town was just what the Doctor ordered after 6 weeks of travelling. It was nice to put our feet up, drinking amazing thick, rich hot chocolates and watch the world go by.
Apart from wandering around the Castle gardens and enjoying the above mentioned hot chocolates, Duncan and I decided to do some horse riding. I was given Elvis, the horse who hadn't had too many cheeseburgers, but who had defiantly had more than just hay for breakfast. I've only ridden a horse once before but I'm pretty sure that they're not supposed to stumble all the time. Lucky for me (and for Elvis) he was usually pretty quick to recover, and after a while I got used to it and even stopped swearing every time it happened! All Duncan had to contend with was a slow horse. To get over it, we went back to the hostel to relax some more.
