Hey,

We are finally here in New Zealand, but first will fill you in on our last few days in Fiji. We took advantage of the clear sky and high temperature on day and spent it at the beach. I loved laying there without a care in the world just reading a book. I even managed to get in and out of a hammock without having a serious injury!!

On our last day we took a cruise around the Mamanuca island group. We were really fortunate again with the weather which was beautiful all day long. We set out from the Denarau harbour on a catamaran and began our journey to Mana island. We went by several islands including South Sea island, Bounty island (which was apparently where Celebrity Love Isalnd was filmed) and Treasure island. We got to Mana island where we haphazardly boarded a small boat to get to the SeaSpray sailing boat, which was then to take us to the various island stops. The boat was amazing and there was a fantastic atmosphere. The crew were very friendly and later in the day, got their guitars out and sang to everyone. Our first stop was a small island which was not a resort but a real Fijian village. We walked through to a small hall where we had to take our shoes off and sit on the floor in front of some Fijian men. We experienced a traditional Kava ceremony. I tried some and even managed to get the etiquette right. It was a thin liquid which looked like water from a muddy puddle, and sure enough that is what it tasted like.

After this, we got back on the boat and had a BBQ lunch and drinks on the way to Modriki island. This is the island where the Tom Hanks film Castaway was filmed. We got off the boat here and took a swim in the Ocean. The beaches were amazing and the word Castaway was spelt out in coconuts on the sand. It was a really great day, probably one of my favourites so far, and a great way to finish off in Fiji.

We arrived in New Zealand yesterday after a short 3 hour flight (if only they were all like that). It has been really nice so far and we have been busy trying to make plans for our month here. We are hoping to cover lots of ground here and take in some cool experiences along the way. I will be in touch again soon, Kay xx
