We are nearing the end of our time here in Argentina. We haven't spent a whole lot of time here, and would probably stay longer but weather is forcing our hand and we'll head to Chile in the morning. Waking up in Bariloche today, the heavy clouds of ash still hung over the city so we packed up, said our goodbyes and left Hostel Pudu. We got to the bus station with an idea of heading right to Chile, but the bus we wanted only leaves in the mornings. Instead bought tickets and headed to Villa la Angostura, another small ski town on the north side of the lake, close to the Chilean border.
Arriving in the afternoon in Angostura, we checked into a small hostel and wandered a bit around the town. Being another 80 some kilometers closer to Chile, this town is under much more ash than Bariloche. It felt like a blustery, winter day back home - ash is piled on the sidewalks, weighing down the trees, blowing around in open spaces, and being shoveled aside by the residents. It is crazy. We had to keep our sunglasses on and tie scarves around our faces to be able to walk around the town. We did have a few tiny breaks in the cloud to see some blue sky and see that there are beautiful mountains all around the town, but they weren't visible for long.
Our hostel had a great kitchen so we made an awesome meal and some microwaveable brownies (inspired by Kaila)!!!
The lakes district of Argentina has been amazing and I wish the skies would clear so we could do some more hiking. We're going to head to Chile and hope that when we get on the other side of the volcano, the skies will clear (depending on the wind) and we can breathe easier. Our bus will bring us to Puerto Montt, where we hope to catch another bus to Chiloe to do some rustic camping and check out some penguins on the Pacific coast.

K-bird Brownies ftw! I'm glad I was able to inspire you. Sad you're leaving Argentina, I'll have to dig up some Chilean songs to sing your general direction
