No longer the 3 amigos, Ant and I made our way across Lake Nicaragua to the Island of Ometepe formed by two volcanoes rising out of the water. More volcanoes... Didnt do much except laze on the beach (not a very nice one with waaaaay too many biting things and crazy dogs and cows) and walk to a waterfall. Had a good relax after all the stuff we had got up to in recent weeks.
From there we headed to the gringo town of San Juan del Sur which looks like an international beach destination in the making. Lovely deserted wild beaches with a surf that literally dumps you on the beach and enough tasty restaurants and iced coffees in town to keep the tourists happy. Some girls we met let us in on a secret - to head up to this stunning Mediterranean looking resort Pelican Eyes and laze by the series of infinity pools all day before heading back to our $7 scuzzy hostel. Bit cheeky but wow it was lovely...
We finished off our time in Nicaragua with a sailing trip around the bay. Sunning it on the deck, watching the sunset over the Pacific... bliss. And we booked the trip not knowing that it had a free bar on board... Oh how Ants eyes lit up. Such a Brit.
ps - message to the parents - you may have noticed the number of references to alcoholic beverages on our trip. Its not that its is all about drinking, its just that sometimes you need a cold beer after all those volcanoes.
pps - message to mother and Richard Jones - before you ask where my apostrophes have gone, this keyboard doesnt seem to possess any.
