At the moment I'm in Byron Bay which is awesome, lovely weather lovely atmosphere...lovely!
My last few days in Sydney were cool, I didn't really take to the city that much though - it was no different from any other city. The harbour was great, but that was it! Nothing else to see at all really..but the nightlife was brilliant, on the Friday Ben took me out with his mates to some cool bars, one called World Bar which serves its drinks in teapots! How quaint! I felt very much at home!
The next day I dragged myself out of bed in order to meet Sheree, a girl I met in Cambodia, who lives about an hour away from Sydney. It was really nice to see her again, we just wandered around mostly, which is all I seemed to do in Sydney (oh, and eat. lots.) That evening I gathered my stuff and prepared myself for the overnight bus to Byron Bay (12 hours). The bus was half full so I got 2 seats to myself and still couldn't get comfy, boo! Fell asleep in the end, but when I eventually got to Byron I felt in a complete daze, had to sleep as I couldn't see straight! The girls eventually got to the hostel which was great, lovely to see them!
Byron is a cute little place, it reminds me of a more fabulous, less tacky Newquay in the summer. By that I mean, imagine Newquay on a bigger scale with less pale/beetroot fat bodies and more tanned, toned surfers. Nice!!
Days have been spent lazing about really, by the beach, walking around town (bought too much again, but the hoodies were so cheap!). We went out in the evening to a few bars and ended up in a place called Cheeky Monkeys which was good fun, full of backpackers though..I want to see some locals! Initially we went to the Beach Hotel which used to be owned by Crocodile Dundee (they had his hat! Of course I got a pic..) but it was dead.
Yesterday the girls friend from back home, Katie, drove us to the lighthouse which leads to the most easterly point of Australia. It was a long walk up and down hills, but we eventually got there so I can officially say I've been to the most easterly point of Australia! And it was awesome! The beach was just below so we ran into the freezing water and tried to catch the surf (without surf or boogie boards, not so successful!). Round the corner there were massive rocks by the seafront and the waves were extremely rough..and there was a guy, perched on the rocks fishing! Mentalist, have no idea how he got there.....
We were supposed to be going to Surfers Paradise today, but the girls have decided to stay another night here, which I don't mind, it's a pretty cool place, and there's a $5 BBQ tonight so I'm happy!
So yeah, again, not much to report..but I'm still having fun!! And still can't believe how quickly time is going.. oh and just so I have this on record, the girls said they'd come visit me in Canada around my birthday next year! Woo!
Lots of love!
