Currently in KL which is an amazing, awesome city.
I flew down from Krabi (ugggh still bitter about that place) and bumped into a couple I'd bumped into in Cambodia which was cool..when we arrived we all headed for Haven backpackers (recommended by Miss Amelia Rowell, and a very good shout, the place is excellent - free toast and internet all day!!)
There were a few girls just hanging out down in the lobby sort of area so I got talking to them, and after a while I found out that one of them was Lara Bushe's best mate! Aaaah too small of a world. So I went to dinner with these girls and had Thai mango curry which was DELICIOUS. Very very spicy!
I set my alarm early in order to book a ticket to go up to the viewing bridge/sky tower on the twin towers in KL (the picture accompanying this blog). I got there and the next available time was 3.30pm, so being 9am I had a lot of time to kill! The next few hours were spent shopping, shopping, shopping. I bought a very good fake chloe bag which is gorgeous, and was tempted to buy many more.. they are sooo persistent to get their sale.. 'aaah miss, you my first customer! i give you discount!' 'it's 2pm!' 'yes yes, very quiet!'. Think that's a widely used selling technique. Worked on me eventually though... Did a variety of window shopping (there was a topshop!) and stumbled upon an organutan in the shopping centre! It was so adorable! I got to feed it grapes and hold it for a while which was lovely, but I felt a bit sorry for it being gawped at so much...at least there was aircon!
Ohhh and I REALLY got into Malaysian culture by having a Nandos for lunch. Which was a little disappointing, not like it is back home..
The Malaysian people are probably the friendliest I've encountered so far in se asia, they always say hello, I had one woman grab my arm telling me how beautiful my bracelets were, then went on a massive speech about her sister at Leeds university (enthralling stuff!!). But there are massive weirdos. They usually tend to be very hairy, and very skinny, and say stuff like.. 'oooh kissy kissy *makes kissing noises*' and then follow you up the street until you say b***** off, in so many words.
It got to about 3 so I made my way to the Twin Towers. On the way, I stumbled across a set for a Korean tv commercial! I got into the background looking like a muppet tourist so if anyone is in Korea anytime soon, keep an eye out for me. So I got to the Towers (again) and sat through a 3D video about the petrol company who own the towers (joy) and eventually got to the sky view (the bridge in the middle - it's on the 41st floor). It had great views so got some good pictures. I felt fame again when the Malaysian and Pakistani men asked to have their picture taken with me (I'm sure no one is used to blonde hair over here!)!
I was walking back and having walked around for about 6 hours my feet were in sooooooo much pain, so I went and got a foot massage which was the BEST ever, omg so good! Occassionally it really tickled and my foot would like, reflex, and almost give the lady a good kicking, but she thought it was funny thank god! I'm definitely going to go back tomorrow morning before I leave as it was AMAZING and only like 3 pounds.
Not so much sight seeing today (just the towers) but walking around the city was incredible. So I'm off at 11.30am tomorrow to Singapore which signals the last stop of my se asia tour. I can't believe it's come around so quickly, and I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it so far...I hope I enjoy Singapore just as much! Also can't believe I'm going to be in AUSTRALIA next Wednesday. AAAAH!!
Lotsa love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
