Hello readers,
I would like now to bring to your attention a fascinating lexeme of the english language. I have found it to be used by the global english-speaking community with very little variation in meaning, which is interesting in itself. It is a word favoured particularly in the anglophonic southern hemisphere that I currently inhabit, possibly for its versatility as not only a noun, but also a verb and an exclamatory expletive. I personally feel that it is an appropiate tool to express my feelings on my current situation. Said lexeme is 'b*****'.
This is not to imply that there is no positive news to report, merely that it is not quite as perfect as the author might have hoped.
I went to bed early last night hoping, like a child at christmas, that it would make the next day happen faster. It sort of worked as I was tired enough to fall asleep very quickly and woke up at 7am, a time of morning that I've only recently seen if I haven't been to bed the previous night! As soon as it opened I headed to the nearest branch of STA where they told me that they couldn't help and I had to go through the airline, this information coupled with multiple experiences with other branches in the city has lead me to the belief that STA travel in Sydney is universally useless (I appreciate the irony that I am currently writing this on a page created by STA travel). They did at least give the phone number of Virgin Atlantic, which was engaged. I eventually found out the location of the ticketing office and hopped merrily onto the train to Circular Quay. After a few short minutes of searching I was in the office and sorting the mess of my ticket out. The upside is that I do now have a flight booked. Unfortunately I can't fly out until the 2nd April which means that not only do I have to hang around in this city for another 5 days, but I also arrive at heathrow at 5am on my brother's birthday. Much as I'm glad I'll actually be there for the day my arrival will no doubt be a slight inconvenience at that time! I did ask them to check when the next flight was and it wasn't for another week, I won't repeat the entire phrase that came to mind, but the second word was 'that' and I'll leave the rest to your imaginations!
Well I think that's enough articulate thought for me for now so I'll say goodbye and see you very soon!
Love
Kate
