Katie's Travels
Arrived (eventually) at Samui Airport, which it's got to be said is the funniest little airport in the world. It is tiny to start with and the main terminal - if you can even call it that - consists of open sided makeshift huts. So basically just a collection of roofs. The baggage reclaim area has a makeshift belt that goes round and round and you can watch the men load the bags onto it. There is a little restaurant and the entire check-in area consists of around 4 or 5 desks! It's so quaint! Anyway, I jumped back into a shoddy looking van with a guy who said he'd drive me to Chaweng Beach - where my resort was - for 200 baht. So off we sped. About 20 minutes later we arrived at the Samui Island Resort which is at the most northerly end of Chaweng and so quite a walk into the main street. I arrived in my cute little bungalow though which had air con and a nice wet room where I could have a refreshing shower. It looked right out onto the pool which was right on the beach - perfect! Over the next couple of days I didn't really do much to be honest, other than lay by the pool drinking coconut milkshakes and looking out over the fabulous beach. Took a walk into town a couple of times to find a payphone and buy some new sandals and some provisions from Boots. Before I knew it, I was leaving Samui and heading for the pier to catch a boat over to Koh Pha Ngan to meet up with Paul and co for some Full-Moon Mayhem!
