Katie's Travels
Arrived off the boat and jumped in a tuk tuk van to Ban Tai Beach where my lodgings for the next 3 nights were. After a trek in the baking heat, carrying my rucksack and all my worldly possessions, I eventually found the Triangle Lodges and checked in. The little thai woman led me to my bungalow for the next 3 days. I was less than impressed. The toilet didn't have flushing capabilities and lets just say didn't look like it had EVER been cleaned. Trying my hardest not to throw up I put the toilet lid down and vowed to use alternative toilet facilities. The bed had no sheets (not that you'd need them) and there was no window. At least I had a powerful fan but all in all - it was a sweat house! And by no means a comfortable or clean one!!! :-( Nevertheless, I was so hot and bothered that I quickly changed into my swimming stuff, grabbed a bottle of water and headed out to the beach which was about 20 steps away. That part was great. The resort seemed so quiet and the beach was very private! On the beach I suddenly heard a very greenockian accent behind me - turned round to see Paul!!! Very happy to see him, he took me over to meet Lorraine, Kirsty, Craig, Gail and Davie. After a few beers and a catch up we all went back and got changed. Then we headed back down in a tuk tuk to Haad Rin beach for the warm-up to the Full Moon Party. Enjoyed a few buckets of alcoholic cocktails including a half bottle of vodka!! and some "Special Shakes" up Mushroom Mountain!! All very merry at 3am or so we decided to head back to the lodges and sit on our own beach for a while which we did. Next day, we just lazed about on our beach all day and then headed back down to Haad Rin for the Full Moon Party that evening. Managed to pretty much lose everyone, then find them, then lose them again all the while getting completely wrecked and falling about the beach. Was great fun though! Don't remember getting home but I woke up the following afternoon in the sweat house safe and sound but minus a pair of sunglasses (don't worry mum, it wasn't my prescription ones!) Next night, we went back again to Haad Rin, although I felt sooooooooooo ill that day that I was definitely staying off the alcohol for ever (well that night anyway). The others decided to follow the old 'Hair of the dog' routine and got very drunk again. I headed home alone around 5am as being sober and tired is not a good combination. The next day after another stint on our beach, we got packed up and checked out late (at a cost of an extra 100 baht). We then headed to the pier again and caught a boat back to Koh Samui. It was here we said our goodbyes and parted ways. Paul and co planning to stay another couple of nights on Samui and I was heading to the airport to fly back to Bangkok for one more night. It had been a cracking few days though!! :-)
