We arrived in Auckland after a 3 and a half hour plane flight at 12pm Tuesday. We both had a good flight, as we managed to sleep! Also, I was particularly over the moon as the breakfast available was a small box of cereal and bottle of milk which I have never had on a plane before but have always wanted (Sarah I am guessing you will agree with me on this!)
We got through customs after a bit of a chat with a Maori customs woman who did grill us a bit on our camping, hiking and cattle farm activities - we had to show our trainers so that they saw there was no mud on them, it is extremely tight 'biosecurity' over here and yet again we had to ask if chocolate was allowed (no food is allowed into the country like in Oz!).
We got our bags and successfully found our shuttle bus. Auckland looked quite English so it was quite nice to see, and it is quite a hilly city, quite a bit cooler than Australia though so that was a shock to the system. We checked into Base which is very central and got into our Sanctuary (girls only!) room and collapsed! We had been awake since 2am so pretty tired already. We got out and about though, made a trip to the supermarket and had a nice wander around. We treated ourselves to an Irish pub meal (bangers and mash with GRAVY! for me and steak and ale pie for Amber - heaven!) then got to bed, happy in the knowledge that we didn't have to get up for anything the next day!
