The Menorcan Chain Gang
Well, I'm definitely getting into the swing of things. The 4:30 wake-up time doesn't seem nearly as imtimidating. Yesterday was especially painful, since I was really sore. The last hour of digging just about killed me. Today was much better, though all of the work does seem like something Cool Hand Luke would be doing.
Today I found a Roman tack. It looks like a large thumbtack, but it is something that would have been used to hold the sole of a leather sandal onto the shoe. We've also been learning how to wash pottery. Tomorrow we begin excavation on the Roman City of Sanisera, which should be exciting and not quite as back breaking.
The America vs. Britain war continues. Each side names something that their country has "given" to the other country, most often people or bands. For example, Britain gave us Mr. Bean and the Beatles. It's amazing how we can sustain this for the 40 minute bus ride to the dig and back everyday.
Check out the pictures that I've uploaded. They're taking forever, but hopefully they'll be done soon so I can go to bed!
