Hey, as you all probabbly know by now Mission Beach wasn't quite what we were expecting! Cyclone Larry hit early Monday morning with the eye only 3km north of where we were staying! The wind was unbelieveably loud and was a little scary but pretty exciting at the same time! The damage was terrible - there were trees everywhere. Luckily our hostel was fine, we just had to manage without power. We were stranded for a bit as all the buses were cancelled but eventually the Police made the bus company come and get us out! We managed to get a bus south on Tuesday afternoon but the weather was horrendous and it was touch and go whether we would get over the river to Townsville - we made it just in time but had to drive through half a metre of water! It was definitely an experience and in the end the only bad thing was that we've lost a couple of days by having to hang around in Townsville. We've stayed with the other cyclone survivorsa from our hostel though and we're all having a good time together!! Take care and we'll be in touch again soon, love Helen and Kath xxx
