Kate & Rob's Adventure
Life's a Beach!
What trip to Sydney would be complete without going to Bondi! We got up early and headed out by train and bus to the beach, it only took about 30 minutes and as you got closer the suits and briefcases of the city turned into shorts and surf boards.
As soon as you step off the bus you see the coffee shops and surf shacks, you can rent or buy boards or just get a book and sit and watch life pass you by. As far as the beach goes it is just that, a beach. When compared to other beaches i dont think it would win any awards but its not, thats what makes Bondi so special. 30 minutes outside of the city and you're at the beach, surfing and catching a tan. Don't get me wrong this is a beautiful clean beach, surrounded by clean streets and nice appartments which over look the surf.
We sat on the beach until i got bored (addmittedly this wasnt long but long enough to get a feel for the place), i watched surfers and tried to work out a technique for if i ever gave it a try. It was relaxing and nice to let the road and your thoughts leave you on the road and just relax and do nothing whilst sat on the sand.
To cap off our trip to Bondi we decided to go to the cinema! I know your all thinking whats special about this but i pushed the boat out and went Gold Class. Gold Class cinema is taking Australia by storm and i believe it is at home in the UK in the big cities. You pay a little more to watch the movie but when you turn up on the night you go to a private bar, you order your drinks and relax. Whilst relaxing you look through a menu and chose something to eat, waiters take your orders and ask when you would like it, before the movie, at the start or during. The waiters also take your drink orders and check when you will be wanting them. Ten minutes or so before the movie the usher comes over to you and takes you to your seat. The theatre is for only 40 people and you each have 'first class' airplane style seat, these fully recline and you could stretch out and fall asleep if you wanted.
So we watched our movie, had our dinner and had a few drinks throughout, this is the future and i cant wait! My only problem was that if you drink too much you need to go to the bathroom and you miss out on the movie - screens in there would solve this (i advised this in the suggestion box provided!)
So we ended our second trip to Sydney on a high and we loved our time in the city and in Australia. Tomorrow we start a new adventrue in New Zealand and we are going with an open mind and looking forward to what we might find. Stay tuned for our next trip.....
Lots of Love
