It's our day off today! The sun is shining, and we have driven to St Lucia and the Wetlands for the day. We had a 10am deadline to join a boat ride up and down the estuary which divides the two sides of the Greater St Lucia Wetlands Park, and despite getting caught up in some sort of demonstation on the highway, we made it in time. It was a relaxing 2 hours of spotting hippos, crocodiles, sharks, fish eagles, kingfishers and dozens of other birds.
I have a few minutes of internet access whilst a couple of the group are getting a tatoo, and then we are heading to the beach and the Indian Ocean - although there will be no swimming as the hippos, crocs and sharks are also in that water!! Paddling to calf height is all that is recommended - I may just get my toes wet and stop at that.
This evening to mark Bonfire night we are having the 3rd braai (any excuse really) it's will be the 3rd that we've had since I've been here (2 in the teaming rain, so just like a bbq in England). I've been asked to make a bread and butter pudding for a couple of people who have read about it and are curious to try it. I am not going to attempt to make it on the braai though!
