Kari goes to Lincoln, England
I woke up at 9AM and felt wonderful and refreshed. I had talked to Ellie the night before and she said she would take me to the grocery store. We left at 9:30 and went to Morrisons. I hardly ever cook, so I was a little unsure about what to buy and then I didn't recognize any of the brands. So I just bought the essentials, some milk, cereal, fruit and meat (I can use their bread and butter). Then we went over to PC world so I could get a cord for my computer to hook up to the internet. Well it worked and I could now access the internet from my computer but I need a student ID and password to log in and I didn't have those yet. We had been back for about 10 minutes and Sarah called me, and was wondering what time I wanted to head over to see Bryan. I said now is good. So the three of us headed over to Bryans to talk to him about a few things (he is pretty much our main contact here if we have any problems, we met him when he came to America in November). We were in his office for over an hour trying to sort things out. A number of faculty and his students kept walking by and we were introduced to so many people. At one point he took us into the Radio Studio and we met about eight of his students who were working on final projects for last semester, its kind of confusing and I don't quite get it. They were really friendly and agreed to meet us at the shed at 4 (it's a pub on campus). Bryan wasn't too happy about this, he has wanted the watering hole to be at the end of the tour because they were supposed to show us around. We finished a few more things up in Bryans office and met a bunch more people. We met three Claires and four Daves that morning. We had been introduced to about 20 people. We finally left his office around 1:30 and we had been there since 11. We walked back to Sarahs apartment and were going to have lunch with them. We walked into town, this was my first glimpse of town as the only thing I had seen was a small glimpse when we arrived and the campus. It was really pretty and I took pictures on the way there. We ate at Chilles - a Mexican restaurant - not quite authentic or my view of authentic rather. It wasn't even really Mexican type food. I had the buffet and it was Chicken and potatoes and salad and some other stuff. We got back and had a few minutes to chill before we had to go to the shed. I logged onto the internet and emailed a few people back as this was my second time on the internet. We got to the Shed and talked to the students from the radio class. They were really friendly and a lot of fun to talk to - most of them showed up and this really surprised me, because I kind of felt like Bryan threw us on them, and they were just putting up a front for him. We sat there talking until 8:30pm. I only had one drink because I have no money. We left the pub and decided to go out to the clubs later that night. I came back and chilled for a little while and met Jason at 9:30 at his flat. He was really into this video game that he was playing with his flatamate and he didn't leave there until 9:45. We stood in line until 11Pm when we finally got into the club Scream. While we were talking to some guys in line, they asked me if I was from American or Australia - I told them to guess and they picked Australia - who knew. The club was a lot of fun. I love dancing and Sarah was there too, so we danced with her. I left the club at 2:30 and this guy invited me over to his place for tea. I know what you are all thinking, but we just had tea and talked and his flatmate was all fascinated with me and my accent and also with the fact that I was American. I left there at 4:30 and was exhausted. Ugh! What a day, but it was soo soo much fun. I love it here!!! I cannot believe how fun Bryans students were and everyone else that we met. I also discovered that my accent is really obvious, and everyone asks me if I like Bush. I think that will be the most popular question that I get.
