We checked out of the hotel today was a bit sad to leave as it was a lovely resort. Looking forward to doing a bit of exploring. The hotel driver took us to the hire car company free of charge and waited until we were inside the staff at Samui Beach were so helpful. We picked the car up no problem at all we got a Toyota Yaris automatic .. Here we go lets see how this goes .. We decided to get a sat nav even though the hire car company said we would be ok. I booked one night in a hotel called the Samui Laguna beach it was 25 pound for the night. We found it ok and Mark drove really well considering it was his first time driving in Thailand. They drive on the same side of the road which is a bonus, you just have to watch out for the mopeds !!!
We arrived at the hotel no bother it was nice well ok but not quite the luxury we had just left. It was right in the middle of the town so a good location and the swimming pool was nice enough. It was a short stroll from our room to the beach. The room was a bit dingy but clean it was so warm in there as well as the air con could only be switched on whilst you were in the room. We went down to the beach for a couple of hours it's a lovely beach and very busy in comparison to the last one we were on. Lots of bars and restaurants water sports and beach sellers, the beach sellers are very nice though and if you say no thanks they walk away and leave you alone. We went for lunch at the bamboo bar and drank a few cocktails. We decided to go try the pool out for a bit .. Again this wasn't the nicest area but it was ok.
We went into the main town at night for a meal and s few drinks, there were so many to choose from we didn't know where to go. We stumbled across an Irish bar and guess what England were playing Ireland in the Rugby ( guess where we stayed for nearly 2 hours) I drank frozen cocktails all night which were yummy and I updated my blog.
Guess what I had to eat mmmm yes I had sausage and mash it was bloody yummy not as good as my Mummys though lol, Mark had sizzling chicken which was also good and tasty !!
We left the pub when the rugby finished and walked up the street to see some Thai boxing going on with all girlie bars around it .. There were plastic garden chairs to sit on and it was busy we decided to go look and have a drink, the first match was 2 young boys probably about 12-13, very different to our boxing they kick as well as punch !!! Then there was a break and 3 ladyboys did some dancing which was funny, there was another male match and the last one we saw were 2 women fighting all in all it was a good experience. I finished the night with a banana pancake. We went back to the room and it was very very hot and the air conditioning was rubbish. Lamai was an experience.
