What an awesome day! We spent today in Abu Dahbi. Our day started with a visit to Masdar City which is an area featuring electric cars with no drivers that transport you to the central area of the city (think the Jetsons!). This place was amazing. The buildings are built to naturally cool each apartment without air conditioning and also using a unique wind tower for cooling as well.
From there it was off to Syadaat Island home to a new area of Abu Dahbi. This will be home to many new residences, hotels/resorts golf clubs and much more. Some of the things that will be included in this new project are the Louvre and Guggenheim will both be brought in. They will also be having a New York University campus as well. The plan is to. Make this a tourist destination within the next few years.
Part of the group split off for a bit in the morning. The majority of the group went to Ferrari World, home to the worlds fastest roller coaster. Myself and another of the group decided to see if we could possible do a ride along in a Formula 1 car. No luck there, but we did get to see the cars they use as well as a close up of the race track.
The highlight of the day was a visit to the Grand Mosque. This place was amazing! As you came I to the mosque, there is a crystal chandelier to greet you that ways 21tons. Yes, you read that right, TONS! There is beautiful marble with mother of pearl everywhere and the gardens are absolutely stunning. We were able to watch the sunset over the mosque, breathtaking.
Our day day was capped off with dinner at the Yas Viceroy Hotel. The restaurant overlooks the race track that we had seen just that morning. It was a delicious buffet with the most amazing desserts to date. After dinner, it was off to the rooftop bar to enjoy another beautiful evening under the stars.
this is the last entry for this trip as tomorrow we will be visiting some offices that are specific to the architects and construction people I'm traveling with and then a marathon visit back to the Dubai Mall.
this trip has been amazing and I've learned so much! Thanks for joining me on this trip of a lifetime and when you're ready to take your own Dubai Adventure, call me!!!
