January 6th
When we woke up it wasn't sunny but dry at least! After breakfast we decided to walk around to the other side of the island with Emma and Sanna to the Blue Lagoon. Apparently there have been lots of movies filmed there. We walked around the outside of the island on the beach. It was beautiful and deserted! It took about half an hour to walk there. It was beautiful with perfect sandy beaches and blue sea! Some of the guys from our resort were already there, along with a couple of the dogs from the resort who like to follow everyone around and are really friendly. We went for a lovely dip in the sea. We walked back over the top of the island through the jungle bit. It was SOOOOOOOOO hot up there, and really muddy because of the rain in the last few days. It was very hard work! We had to walk up to the top of the island which was like a mountain. At the top we had a 'team photo'! We were disgusting by the time we got back to Sunrise so we walked straight into the sea. It was lovely and cool! We had lunch at half eleven then waved off the people who were leaving on the boat. Me and Fi talked to some of the dogs and then they had a jealous fight over us! In the afternoon a large group of us walked five minuts down the beach to Lo's tea house for cake! When we got back it started raining so we just read our books and sat inside. We had a buffet barbecue for dinner. After dinner we had a 'kava' ceremony. Kava is a traditional Fijian drink that very closely resembles muddy water in both look and taste (not that I've ever drunk muddy water before!). Everyone had to take a turn drinking it and say things before and after drinking it. It's made from the root of the kava plant. It can have a wierd effect on you if you drink lots of it but in the short term it just makes your tongue numb and tingly! After that we played cards for a while then went to bed. We all choked on the fumes of the mosquito repellant sprays!
